Family Portrait FAQ's

How far in advance do I need to book our session?

Aim to book your session 2 - 4 weeks in advance. The earlier you book, the more session times you’ll have to choose from.

What is the best location?

There are sooo many options for locations: your home, my studio, your family’s favourite recreation spot, plus plenty of lovely settings around Adelaide and in the Clare Valley (I’m in the Valley 1-2 times a month). If you’re having trouble deciding, we can have a chat about your family; what you enjoy doing together and any places that hold special memories. It also helps to check out the photos in my gallery to see which shots catch your eye.

What should we wear to our family portrait session?

Wear clothes that everyone feels comfortable in and that you don’t have to be too precious about. It’s also important to keep clothing relatively plain, especially avoiding striking spots and stripes, as they tend to be visually distracting.

What if the kids are grumpy? 

This happens ALL the time! The best thing you can do is pay little attention to their mood. There is usually only one offender and they often warm up and start having fun very quickly. If they don’t, I still take some shots - the solemn or pensive look can be endearing! I find the best way to prevent any grumpiness is to avoid making a big deal about the session in the lead up, and certainly don’t put pressure on them to “be happy”. Being happy yourself is catching – so try that! 

Do I need to pay anything up front? 

Yes, the session fee is required to confirm your booking. Session fees are $150 for weekdays and $250 for weekends. 

How long until I get my prints? 

The first step is to meet for a viewing session, approximately 2 weeks after the photo shoot. From that appointment, prints will be ready in 2 - 4 weeks. 

Can you give me an idea of the cost? 

For family portraits, session fees begin at $150 and pricing for individual prints start at $75. All prints are hand printed on Museum grade Fine Art paper and come with quality mounts, ready for framing. I also offer several print package options, which provide considerable savings. I don’t want any prints; can I just get a CD of images? 

I don’t offer the CD on its own, as I take great pride in the quality of the final prints. Not only can a poor printing job reflect badly on my work, but it also diminishes the impact of your photographs. I want to ensure you enjoy them in all their glory! A CD is an optional extra when you purchase a package. As part of the package, you receive a selection of prints, which can act as a reference point for your own prints. I also provide a low resolution (non-printable) CD with all packages at no charge. These images include my brand, so you are free to load them onto your computer or digital photo frame. You can also share these on social media – please do! 

Small Business FAQ's 

Can you give me an idea of the cost? 

Small business photography starts at $110 per hour. 

As a small business owner, do I need to license the photographs you take? 

For commercial photography, all images are licensed for use by your business for two years, with an option to increase to an unlimited time. Licensing protects you (the client) and me (the photographer) from third parties using images that you have paid for. If another party seeks to use your images, please contact me to discuss your options. 

Wedding FAQ's

Do I have to have a package?

No! We have structured our products so you can tailor make your own, right down to how many hours coverage you need. Of course there are two packages to choose from, which are discounted, if you'd rather not have to think about it!

Can you give me an idea of the cost?

If you’re getting married, my wedding coverage starts at $750 per hour or packages from $3950, which captures the bridal party preparations through to the first half hour of the reception. More inforamtion about wedding costs can be found here.
